Bio

Sophia Sutherland is an interdisciplinary painter based in Portland, Maine. Originally from the other Portland (Oregon). She experiments with mediums such as collage, painting and found objects. Her work explores themes of familiar relationships, regret and nostalgia. Her work has been shown both on the East and West Coast.


Outside the studio, Sophia has the practice of running on the coast of Maine, and volunteering during the spring and summer at Woodmere Elementary School. Sophia’s bold and energetic style comes through in all that she does.
