Another Indescribable Thing

I am primarily engaged with blurring the lines between sculpture and myself. I imbue my objects with my distorted voice, putting you in my head, or, more In The Room. I project myself onto objects in a very literal sense, dancing among them in an eternal duet. I am interested in the nothing that is spoken through saying everything. I do not talk in code, but the work may not necessarily speak your language.

Another Indescribable Thing blends repetitive motifs of road infrastructure, camp Americana aesthetics and nonsensical language to play with ideas of legibility. The elements are recognizable, but have been shuffled around, turned into an accumulative pile: an intermedia attempt at expressing the inexplicability of being through the objects we just can’t seem to get rid of.

Bio

Redford Reece is an American artist: born in the Midwest and raised in the Carolinas, with a brief stint in California to be held by Arnold Schwarzenegger for a magazine. They love reading Wikipedia, eating corn, and getting really excited about road signs. Red can most often be heard comparing something to something else. This tendency earned them an International Sculpture Center Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award in 2025. Their work has been shown around southern ME, in Dallas, TX, and in various publications. Currently living in Portland, Maine; Red misses billboards.
