The Fluorescence

The Fluorescence is a collection of original characters developed through their own musical themes and visuals. In the frame of a theoretical videogame, each character has a base form and a corrupted boss form bred by their connection to the alien affliction called Miss Mold.

We undertook this project as a way to combine our respective audio and visual skills; Madison Ostrowski has an affinity for videogames and sound engineering while Mac Craig is a non-genre-bound musical composer and illustrator. Together we came up with our premise: Ostrowski designed the characters while Craig composed each of their conversational and boss themes. We switched audio and visual development rolls in the refining stage where Ostrowski engineered and mastered each song while Craig created splash art to show off each character. We each guided each other throughout the whole process.

Chas Lester provided us with his expert drum set skills and improvisations in the tracks “Francis Gaylord”, “Cashier Croixden”, “Certain F”, “The Slinky”, and “The Mold Lord Has Come to Collect”. The voice lines in “Would you like your receipt?” were provided by Orlando Zapata.
