I'm Still Here

I’m Still Here is a 2D animated short film in tribute to my late mother. It’s inspired by the belief that cardinals are signs from loved ones who have passed. I have been working on this film since my junior year, when it was initially a storyboard project that was only supposed to span a couple assignments. I ended up deeply connecting with the story, and when thinking about what I wanted to work on for my thesis, I realized that I wanted to fully animate the film. This story tackles grief, and how we remember our loved ones. Grief is complicated, and the process of drawing all the frames in the animation has helped me continue to process my loss. This film is a reminder to audiences that when someone dies, they are not gone completely. They still live in our memories and in our hearts, and they are still here, at least in some capacity.
