Brianna Campbell

“I’ll Take Care of You.”

I have been ruminating about connection, love, and empathy. What does it look like? Where is it? It can look like a lot of different things for many. I’m bringing objects to life in a Frankenstein-like fashion, by inserting my own hopes, and dreams into them. What does empathy look like in an object? What does their connection look like? What is their purpose? Is it important that they have a purpose? Do you need to know? There are many things to consider. It’s difficult to feel hopeful for the future, especially when looking at the lack of empathy and emotional intelligence in the contemporary world.

It is rare to meet sincere people who love, and care truly. It’s becoming harder to distinguish the people who move with genuine sincerity, from the performative people who tell little lies about themselves to look a certain way, and aestheticize whole personalities. People care a lot about their self-image. I can’t build a person. I can’t change anyone. So I will create objects that carry the traits I admire. And hopefully that piece can influence that positive shift in someone. And inspire feelings of empathy rather than of just sympathy.
